FOREMAN MAINTENANCE
Full-time, 1st shift position at HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding Division, the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi and a major contributor to the economic growth of Alabama. U.S. citizenship is not required for this position.
About the role
Immediate need for leaders who can drive accountability in a professional, civil environment. Must demonstrate ability to lead with fairness, consistency, respectfulness, and transparency.
Supervises, assigns, coordinates, and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel based on their skill, experience, and job knowledge. Responsible for training employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed, recommending training to enhance skills and productivity, and assisting in the development of training procedures.
Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job, including adherence to drawings and procedures. Oversees manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations with significant financial impact on the company’s performance. Supervises qualified trades staff and monitors job and budget performance across all shifts. Additional management responsibilities as outlined in Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001 (SBMC 0001). Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or completion of an apprenticeship program, or
- High school diploma and 4 years of combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, or military experience, or
- Associate degree in a trade/technical field and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade, and/or military experience
Internal candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Superior attendance and disciplinary record
- No more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 days
- No safety-related Disciplinary Action Notices (DANS) resulting in a disciplinary layoff in the last 180 days
- No more than 2 total DANS in the last 180 days (excluding lost tool incidents)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
