Foreman Electrical

About the role

This position will lead and manage a crew of journeyman and helpers. The crew size may vary, but the average span of control for these positions is between 5–15 workers.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
• Identify all tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Lead crew in daily safe operations.
• Manage workloads, supplies, equipment, and reporting.
• Cut, bend and run conduit as specified on blueprints.
• Install, modify and fabricate cable tray as necessary according to specifications.
• Pull cable through specified pathways.
• Assemble and install electrical equipment.
• Terminate wires and cables to electrical equipment such as breakers, control panels, and distribution systems.
• Test electrical components for continuity and proper voltage readings according to specifications.
• Inspect electrical equipment and components to identify hazards and ensure equipment is in good operational condition.
• Set up and maintain temporary power systems.
• Install and maintain grounding systems for all equipment and structures.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as an Industrial Electrician.
• 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must be able to work at heights greater than 300 ft.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Prior working experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and schematics.
• Experience working on high voltage systems.
• Ability to manage and lead a crew of journeyman and helpers on daily and weekly operations.
• Ability to keep records and report on time, cost codes, equipment, personnel records, and operational updates.
• Knowledge of basic electrical theory including Ohm’s law.
• Proficient in installing and modifying cable tray using hand and power tools.
• Proficient in bending and cutting conduit using hand saws, hand tube bending equipment, power and hydraulic cutting and tube bending devices.
• Proficient in cable pulling methods used to run cable through specified pathways.
• Ability to use specialized electrical tools such as ohm meters, multi-meters, and terminating devices.
• Ability to terminate both high and low voltage equipment and cable/wiring.
• Mechanical and electrical knowledge of components related to a New Construction Plant.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems for electrical malfunctions.
• Ability to identify different types, gauges, and colors of cables and wires.
• Ability to follow instructions correctly.
• Reliable, accountable, and consistent in performing administrative processes.
• Knowledge and experience working with a lock out tag out system.
• Willing and able to follow all instructed safety regulations.
• Ability to work the designated schedule and any overtime as needed with proper notification.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

• Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
• Prior working experience with Zachry.
• Licensed Journeyman Electrician.
• National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Electrician.
• Formal/technical education.

Physical Requirements

• Large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
• Talking and hearing to communicate.
• Using arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
• Ability to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
• Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection requirements.
• Work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
