About the role
This position involves supervising and ensuring compliance with safety rules, following directions from leadership, and overseeing co-workers within the designated area of responsibility. The role requires participation in the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) for Electricians and performing detailed inspections of tools and work areas.
Responsibilities
- Complying with all Zachry and site-specific safety rules with oversight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Following direction from a Multi-Craft Electrician, General Foreman, Craft Superintendent, Site Superintendent, and/or Project Manager
- Complying with the Lock, Tag, and Try work procedure, which applies to the Sweeny Refinery, associated facilities, and outlying terminals
- Inspecting all designated work areas for hazards
- Participating in and completing the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) for Electricians per site-established guidelines
- Performing detailed inspections on hand and power tools to ensure they are safe to operate and in proper working order
- Safely using hand and power tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers, and drills with oversight of co-workers
- Examining blueprints, sketches, diagrams, building plans, and specifications to determine locations of circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards, wires, conduit, components, and other equipment
- Carrying, cutting, bending, connecting, and installing conduit as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with oversight of co-workers
- Pulling cables and conductors through specified pathways as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with oversight of co-workers
- Modifying, fabricating, and installing cable trays as required and as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with oversight of co-workers
- Safely operating testing equipment to validate connections and ensure capability of circuits using tools such as clamp meters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and harmonics testers with oversight of co-workers
- Inspecting and testing all electrical equipment to ensure safe operation and to certify it is operating as intended with oversight of co-workers
- Safely installing and maintaining temporary power systems and their distribution system as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with oversight of co-workers
- Installing and maintaining the assured equipment grounding/bonding on equipment and facilities with oversight of co-workers
- Terminating wire/cable to electrical equipment such as outlets, switches, breakers, control panels, and distribution systems with oversight of co-workers
- Observing all state and local building/electrical codes
- Leading the Safety Task Assessment (STA) meetings
- Performing other duties as required
Qualifications
- Must possess a NCCER Plus Industrial Electrician License
- Must be able to read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics, and plans
- Thorough knowledge of Electrician hand, power tools, and layout tools
- Must have required tools
- Must be able to work at heights of 300 ft.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands and pre-employment conditions
- Must have reliable transportation
