Foreign Language Instructor (Japanese) Pool-Part-Time
This recruitment is for a part-time, temporary faculty pool to fill assignments on an as-needed basis. The department will refer to this pool when openings arise.
About the Role
Fullerton College is seeking a Foreign Language Instructor (Japanese) to join its Humanities department. Responsibilities
- Teach Japanese language courses at levels, days, and times to be determined based on department needs.
- Engage in practices that support disproportionately impacted student populations to help close equity gaps.
- Reflect on and adapt instructional and relational practices to better support diverse student needs.
Requirements
- Master’s in Japanese OR Bachelor’s in Japanese AND Master’s in another language or linguistics.
- Possession of a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area (or equivalent as determined by the District Equivalency Committee).
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
- Commitment to equity-minded practices in the classroom.
All degrees must be from accredited postsecondary institutions. Foreign degrees and/or coursework must be evaluated for equivalency. Transcripts must show the degree award date; applications without this will be deemed incomplete.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching Japanese at the community college or university level.
- Commitment to examining and modifying instructional practices to support equity and inclusion.
Pay
- Lecture unit rate: $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per unit.
- Lab parity unit rate: $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per unit.
- Lab unit rate: $1,258.16 – $1,380.60 per unit.

Schedule
Part-time, temporary assignments with variable hours. Course levels, days, and times will be determined based on department needs for Spring 2026 and beyond.
