FOOD SVC WORKER I

About the role

Performs a variety of routine duties related to the preparation and serving of food, cleans kitchen area and cooking utensils, and handles ware washing duties to ensure quality service. Prepares patient tray lines, dispenses food for meal service, and maintains retail areas. Ensures food quantities are sufficient and notifies supervisors when supplies are low. Prepares production according to menus, production sheets, or count sheets, including items for modified diets. Assembles late trays accurately, maintaining proper temperatures and visual appeal.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food according to established procedures.
• Clean kitchen areas, cooking utensils, and assigned workspaces in a sanitary manner.
• Perform ware washing duties and complete cleaning tasks within specified timeframes.
• Set up and operate the patient tray line for meal service periods.
• Prepare retail areas for meal service and ensure cleanliness afterward.
• Monitor food quantities and notify supervisors when supplies are low to avoid service disruption.
• Prepare food items according to menus, production sheets, or count sheets, including modified diets.
• Assemble late trays accurately, ensuring proper temperatures and visual attractiveness.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any damaged or unsafe equipment immediately.
• Use the menu system and address customer service concerns promptly.
• Maintain department records, logs, and files as required.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and work toward achieving goals and objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skill, and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job (equivalent to a high school diploma or GED). Preference may be given to individuals possessing a high school diploma or GED.
