About the Role
Performs a variety of tasks in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures, including food service, cleaning, and equipment operation.
Responsibilities
- Serves food by order and proper proportion.
- Breaks down and cleans tables and dining areas after meals, returning dishes and food to the kitchen.
- Brews coffee according to the number of servings required.
- Cleans kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks, and refrigerators.
- Washes tables and counters.
- Operates, breaks down, and cleans all equipment assigned for food preparation.
- Sweeps and mops kitchen floors.
- May unload and store food from delivery trucks.
- Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs heavy cooking utensils such as mixing bowls or pots.
- Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware.
- Loads dishwashers and stores cleaned dishes, glasses, and silverware.
- Sets up cafeteria lines, steam-tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items, including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages; replenishes as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks, including a medical examination and Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card.
- Willingness and ability to work varying shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Willingness and ability to complete a physical.
- Must complete a minimum of 4 hours of initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours of refresher training annually.
Physical Effort
- Frequently lifts/moves items weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Continuous standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.
- May work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment.
Working Conditions
- Exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, and hot working surfaces, as well as extreme temperature changes.
- Work is usually performed indoors with adequate light and ventilation.
- Danger of falling or slipping.
Qualifications
- Ability to understand and follow simple instructions.
- Ability to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.
- Resume must clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Highly preferred qualifications (candidates meeting these will be referred first):
- Experience in food service, preferably in restaurants, catering, and banquets.
