Food Service Worker I
About the role
Performs general kitchen duties including food preparation and storage, cleaning and storing dishes, utensils, pots, and performing general department sanitation. Follows clearly defined department policies and recipes to accurately prepare and serve snacks and meals to patients and visitors. Supports the functionality of the department by assisting in a variety of areas including tray line, cafeteria, dish room, host/hostess, or catering. Gains confidence and cooperation from peers and supervisors through effective communication and competent job performance. Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform general kitchen duties such as food preparation and storage.
- Clean and store dishes, utensils, and pots.
- Maintain department sanitation.
- Follow department policies and recipes to prepare and serve snacks and meals.
- Support department functionality in areas including tray line, cafeteria, dish room, host/hostess, or catering.
- Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- Basic food production and food service knowledge.
- Ability to use various food service supplies and equipment.
- Knowledge of maintaining a safe food environment, including proper cleaning procedures and usage of equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English, and understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Sufficient mathematical ability to perform basic measurement and portioning activities, including increasing and decreasing recipes.
- Ability to meet established deadlines and multi-task in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
- Strong customer service skills.
Schedule
Part-time, 28 hours per week. Shift hours are 8, with variable days of the week, including weekends as needed.
Pay
Pay range is $28.08 to $39.30 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
