Food Service Manager

About the role

The Deli/Bakery Manager at Fresh Thyme Farmers Market is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Deli/Bakery Department, including staff management, sales, margin control, and inventory management. This role requires exceptional customer service, adaptability, and a strong understanding of food service and retail operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares weekly sales and labor projections to maximize department performance
• Maintains department operations within labor percent limits
• Monitors and controls all costs and expenses, including ordering and inventory control
• Hires, trains, schedules, coaches, and conducts performance reviews for staff
• Oversees shift operations, including writing and approving work schedules
• Ensures weekly flyer ads are in stock and ready for sale, and orders and maintains product availability
• Stocks deli/bakery cases, faces, fills, and organizes product items according to department schematics
• Maintains cleanliness of deli/bakery aisles, storage area, and work area for safety
• Responds to customer inquiries, assists with purchases, and sells and cross-sells products
• Receives, inspects, and logs products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
• Maintains proper temperatures during production of deli, cheese, and bakery items
• Sustains a high level of product knowledge and prepares products
• Walks department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and clean appearance

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency degree
• Minimum of 4 years professional experience, preferably in grocery retail with deli/bakery experience
• Advanced attention to detail and prioritization skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of MS Office applications
• Ability to work varied hours and days as business dictates
• Familiarity with Health Department guidelines and regulations
• Advanced knowledge of math, weights, and measures
• Ability to analyze and interpret Company financial statements
• Skills working with all food service equipment

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a natural foods industry is preferred

Pay

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $30.05 per hour, with specific rates determined by experience, qualifications, and company performance.
