About the role
Join a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing housing and services to seniors in a compassionate, Christian environment. The Food Service Assistant maintains food safety and sanitation, prepares and serves food, restocks supplies, and operates equipment such as cash registers and kitchen appliances. They ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines, deliver excellent customer service, and foster effective communication with patrons and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring and recording food temperatures
- Maintaining a clean, sanitized serving area
- Receiving payments and operating cash registers
- Handling food preparation and equipment operation
- Adhering to safety and sanitation standards
- Building positive working relationships
Requirements
- Minimum age of 16 years
- Previous customer service or food industry experience preferred
- Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and follow directions
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation
- Willingness to undergo on-the-job training; Serv Safe and BLS may be required depending on location
