About the role
Join a team that ensures our residents have a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience. The Food Service Assistant prepares and serves resident meals, monitors and records proper food temperatures, sets up and maintains clean and sanitized serving areas, restocks food areas, and cleans and sanitizes equipment.
Responsibilities
- Engage with residents and assist in providing a pleasant dining experience.
- Serve resident meals in the dining room and deliver room trays.
- Monitor and record proper temperature of food.
- Set up and maintain a clean and sanitized serving area.
- Restock food areas and clean and sanitize equipment.
- Prepare menu items, snacks, and supplements following physician’s orders, standards, and regulations.
- Clear tables, sanitize equipment and tables, and perform other cleaning duties in the dining and kitchen areas.
- Wash, dry, and restock dishes, pots, and pans; empty trash as assigned.
- Maintain residents’ dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Provide residents with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their care plans.
- Observe, measure, and document food and fluid intakes as assigned.
- Receive and share information; observe and report any resident change in condition to management.
- Use EMR (electronic medical record) accurately.
- Check equipment before use and notify management or maintenance staff of any issues.
- Operate dishwashing and kitchen equipment safely.
- Follow infection control policies and procedures, OSHA, FDA, and CMS guidelines related to food service, resident assistance, and cleaning.
- Complete all necessary in-person and electronic trainings in a timely manner and attend required department meetings.
- Comply with all related laws, regulations, company policies, and procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum of 16 years of age.
- Previous customer service experience, retail counting and reconciliation of money, and knowledge of food service preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
- Depending on location, ServSafe certification may be required within a designated time frame.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending on location.
- Ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk the unit delivering room trays.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation processes.

Pay
Salary range: $15.00 - $22.50 per hour. $3,500 sign-on bonus.
