Food Service Assistant - Contingent - Rotating Shifts - Macomb

About the Role

Under the direction of department leadership, performs a variety of duties related to preparing and serving meals to patients, employees, and visitors. Includes cashiering, diet office tasks, inventory/supply management, dish room duties, and other assigned responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Complete all functions of shift assignment prior to signing/clocking out.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition.
• Report equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Perform duties in compliance with safety, sanitation, and nutritional guidelines.
• Attend meetings and in-services as required.
• May participate on Quality Improvement Teams or other hospital teams.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, and other policies to ensure adherence.

Duty Assignments

• Dishroom/Sanitation
  • Assemble, operate, and disassemble ware washing machines.
  • Wash dishes, silverware, trays, etc., using ware washing machines.
  • Wash pots and pans by hand using a three-compartment sink.
  • Sanitize equipment used in food preparation or service.
  • Collect, transport, and dispose of trash in compactor/dumpster as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining a safe work environment by sweeping or mopping as needed.
• Inventory
  • Assist with inventory and stocking duties.
  • Inventory Patient Care Unit par stock.
  • Generate orders and deliver par stock to pantries.
  • Rotate par stock supplies.
• Other Duties
  • Collect and maintain patient food preferences and update patient Kardex.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or six (6) months to one (1) year of previous work experience in a food service or cash handling setting preferred.
• Able to read, write, speak English, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Personal computer and data entry skills preferred.
