General Qualifications
The Food Retail Associate is a Ministerial Support position. No personal affirmation of MHA's Christian mission, vision, and beliefs is required, but respect, harmony, and adherence to MHA's culture code and standards of conduct are expected. All staff are encouraged to join gatherings, including prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Provide prompt and courteous service to guests, communicating respectfully and cheerfully.
- Demonstrate professional and clear communication with customers and team members to achieve accurate transactions.
- Prepare foods and beverages as needed using the proper controls and food safety procedures.
- Follow cash register policies, inventory stocking, and recording guidelines to maintain accurate records and ensure inventory is on hand as needed.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
- Organize and stock supplies and displays.
- Present products and promotions in the most appealing manner by following standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing products to ensure timely use.
- Perform cleaning tasks in accordance with the duty rosters and cleaning standards to maintain a high level of facility cleanliness, including emptying trash cans and sanitizing work and guest areas.
- Follow stated open and closing procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Education/Certifications/Licenses
- At least two years of High School
- California Food Handler’s Card (must obtain before starting work)
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to serve all customers and work alongside team members with a respectful, pleasant, and courteous manner
- Ability to serve all customers with a commitment to overall guest satisfaction
- Ability to learn how to prepare ice cream specialties, hot snacks, and assemble prepared food items in a clean and sanitary manner
- Ability to learn how to prepare coffee and espresso beverages in a clean, sanitary, orderly manner
- Ability to learn how to use a cash register and make accurate cash and credit transactions
- Able to take directions and complete tasks as assigned
- Able to work independently and be self-directed in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to continue learning about the food and beverage operations
Physical Demands
- Work in slightly congested conditions around hot machinery
- Sitting and standing for extended periods of time
- Squatting, twisting
- The ability to lift/carry 30 lbs
Additional Requirements
- May be requested to work for special program events
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays along with a flexible schedule
