About the role

The Food Preparer is responsible for preparing, cooking, and dispensing food in accordance with specifications, quality standards, and sanitary regulations. This position also involves assigning tasks to Cooks and Cook's Helpers, maintaining par levels, and delivering food entrees to steam-tables.

Responsibilities

  • Washes, chops, slices, weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients and prepares individual portions in accordance with specifications and cooking instructions.
  • Cooks food as assigned following detailed recipes and procedures using appropriate cooking equipment such as gas ovens, ranges, fryers, and various utensils.
  • Sets up and cleans cooking stations, maintains cleanliness, safety, and general appearance of stations, and cleans work tables and utensils.
  • Performs meal preparation tasks at various stations, assists in cold food preparation, and makes recommendations to supervisor regarding the status of Baker and Baker's Helper.
  • Assists cooking supervisors as required.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.

Skills

  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and procedures.
  • Basic kitchen skills and knowledge of cooking techniques.
