Full-time overnight shift; weekday and weekend availability required.
Responsibilities
- Food Merchandising
- Ensure all grocery deliveries are accurate, stocked, attractively displayed, and priced correctly to maximize sales, profitability, and customer service.
- Complete build-to orders for purchasing merchandise.
- Maintain inventory by checking in deliveries, pricing items, and stocking merchandise according to schematic.
- Validate deliveries by verifying invoices and reviewing discrepancies with the Store Manager; handle outdated merchandise.
- Prepare displays by assembling, dating, and price marking in-store displays.
- Rotate food items and monitor quality and freshness to protect customers from illness.
- Monitor and maintain food preparation area and display cases to attract and retain customers.
- Assist in training new associates with an emphasis on excellent customer service.
- Monitor and organize inventory to prevent stockouts.
- Use suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales and coach food service staff accordingly.
- Make price changes in accordance with Company and/or brand guidelines; place advertising and pricing signage.
- Customer Satisfaction
- Provide prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner.
- Greet customers upon entry and thank them upon departure.
- Resolve or assist in resolving routine customer concerns within established guidelines.
- Report to work on time and follow the dress and appearance code.
- Prepare and serve quality food and beverages to meet customer needs.
- Facility Condition
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing windows, counters, displays, and store areas.
- Pick up and dispose of trash, litter, or debris.
- Inspect store facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain food service equipment to protect customers from illness.
- Financial Controls
- Notify the Store Manager of any inventory or operating discrepancies.
- Receive and sign vendor deliveries, verifying quality and quantity of product.
- Follow Company and/or brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
- Staffing Controls
- Supervise food prep employees in the absence of the Store Manager, including preparing and serving food.
- Coach and train new employees to carry out duties in accordance with Company and/or brand standards.
- Monitor customer traffic and adjust staffing or duties to decrease waiting time.
- Assist with employee counseling and provide feedback to improve performance.
- Internal/External Controls
- Ensure compliance with all government laws, health and safety codes, food brand inspection standards, and Company policies.
- Seek guidance from the Store Manager regarding legal questions or obligations.
- Security Controls
- Assist the Store Manager in maintaining a safe environment for employees and customers and protecting Company assets.
- Report incidents such as employee or customer injury, theft, property damage, improper sanitation, or waste disposal.
- Report any situation involving unsafe, unlawful, or unethical conduct.
- Administrative
- Attend job-related meetings, which may require working irregular hours.
- Maintain intradepartmental workflow by fostering cooperation.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Perform duties with minimal supervision and accomplish related tasks as needed.
- Ensure accurate timekeeping records for all employees.
- May take inventory of supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 months to 1 year of retail store or food service work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
- Knowledge of basic business and customer service principles, including planning, organizing, resource management, and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and understandably.
- Ability to handle unanticipated problems or events using standard procedures.
- Ability to work scheduled shifts, including arriving on time.
- Ability to operate equipment such as hot or cold beverage dispensers, grills, ovens, fry stations, and other machines or tools.
Work Environment
- Perform approximately 95% of work indoors but may be required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, take out garbage, etc.
- Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while working in walk-in coolers and/or freezers.
- Exposure to occasional noise.
- Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to be exposed to cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in walk-in coolers, freezers, and outdoors.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., stocking inventory).
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
- Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for an entire shift, requiring eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (e.g., using a hand-truck).
- Ability to reach overhead for objects.
- Ability to bend and twist at the waist.
- Ability to communicate orally.
- Ability to operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
- May require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.
Pay
Hiring range: $17.50 to $18.00 per hour.
