Food & Beverage Manager - InterContinental New York Barclay

About the role

The Food & Beverage Manager oversees the food and beverage operations of the InterContinental New York Barclay, ensuring quality standards and departmental goals are met. This role adheres to federal, state, and local regulations and brand standards.

Responsibilities

• Achieve budgeted revenues, prepare monthly forecasts, monitor and control food, beverage, and labor costs, and maximize profitability.
• Develop, implement, and maintain local food and beverage marketing programs; participate in and maintain system-wide food and beverage marketing programs and promotions.
• Recommend and/or initiate salary, disciplinary, or other staffing/human resources-related actions.
• Ensure all staff is properly trained on quality and service standards and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
• Interact with outside contacts such as guests, vendors, regulatory agencies, and other contacts as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Some college and/or advanced training in food and beverage management plus 2 years related experience, including supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, culinary arts, or related field preferred.
• Must speak fluent English.
• Ability to perform tasks such as moving around facilities, carrying/lifting items, bending, stooping, kneeling, handling food, objects, products, and utensils.
• Communication, reading, writing, mathematical, problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizing, and training skills are utilized often.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.

Accountability

This role supervises a large number of employees in one or two food and beverage outlets, kitchen, and may include banquet facilities that cater to 500 people or less. It may also oversee one or more subordinate managers or supervisors.
