About the role
As an FM Engineering Operations Manager, you’ll take ownership of engineering operations across a portfolio of facilities—leading high-performing teams, driving operational excellence, and delivering best-in-class service to our clients. This is an opportunity to influence strategy, elevate building performance, and play a key role in shaping the success of critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Provide formal supervision to employees, including monitoring training and development, conducting performance evaluations, and mentoring.
- Oversee recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new employees.
- Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities, including establishing work schedules, assigning tasks, and cross-training staff.
- Set and track staff and department deadlines; mentor and coach as needed.
- Manage operations and maintenance for assigned facilities; develop operating and capital budgets.
- Recommend and implement improvements for preventive maintenance programs.
- Build and maintain effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.
- Serve as the point of contact for maintenance efforts with outside contractors, tenant finish personnel, and technicians.
- Oversee all building systems, including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues; remain current with the latest technology trends.
- Maintain ongoing communication with high-profile tenants, clients, owners, facility management teams, and vendors.
- Drive the acquisition of new management contracts and facilitate the development of as-built drawings.
- Respond to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns.
- Lead by example, modeling behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values and influencing others to adopt different viewpoints while adhering to policies and departmental plans.
- Identify and solve complex technical and operational problems; recognize broader impacts across the department.
- Improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within the role.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5–8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.
- Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations, and balance problems.
- Leadership skills to motivate the team to achieve broad operational targets.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Pay
For California residents: The salary range is $110,000–$123,000 per year plus bonus. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on skills, qualifications, and experience.
