Floor Manager
About the role
The Housekeeping Floor Manager oversees the daily operations of assigned floors or areas, ensuring the highest standards of guest care and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. Key responsibilities include disciplining team members, scheduling staff, maintaining cleanliness, and providing direction for a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assists Executive Housekeeping Manager in following up on team member performance and violations.
- Schedules and listens to Step Ones from team members, addressing concerns and feedback.
- Supervises team members, ensuring all rooms, work areas, service areas, and guest areas are cleaned and maintained to high standards.
- Maintains the integrity of the room inspection program and conducts quality and safety inspections.
- Conducts pre-shift meetings and engages in regular communication with team members.
- Assigns rooms to Guest Room Attendants (GRAs) and ensures timely cleaning.
- Maintains equipment and coordinates repairs/replacement as needed.
- Monitors supplies and ensures proper usage according to the budget.
- Inspects VIP rooms and ensures all special requests are met.
- Trains team members on cleaning products and procedures.
- Completes daily worksheets and ensures accurate room statuses.
- Maintains security of lost and found items and ensures proper key management.
- Communicates with other departments and completes required inspections and reports.
Qualifications
- Ability to train, coach, and discipline employees.
- Working knowledge of rooms management systems and ability to use independent judgment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic math skills for budgeting and forecasting.
- Knowledge of housekeeping operations and sanitation standards.
- Good organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to remain calm and alert during emergencies.
- Bilingualism is preferred.
Additional Information
Experience Requirements: 2 years minimum combined experience in environmental services, housekeeping, internal or public area maintenance or related hotel departments. 1 year minimum supervisory experience preferred.
Education Requirements: GED/High School diploma preferred. College degree preferred.
