Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure a high level of hospitality and maintain a guest first mentality to drive the business forward
- Provide leadership and direction in real time to employees to improve performance and role model a high level of initiative and drive
- Teach, coach & mentor a diverse hourly FOH staff on a daily basis
- Manage all facets of day to day operations with a detailed approach to safety, maintenance, repairs, and sanitation/cleanliness
- Responsible for all floor service supervision
- Be physically present on the floor during service to ensure service standards
- Responsible to maintain overall ambiance to remain on brand, including but not limited to Music & Lighting
- Oversee inventory control & focus on loss prevention within weekly operational tasks
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests
- Maintain low staff turnover rate and high morale
- Operate ethically to protect the image of Somewhere Nowhere
- Engage all team members by hosting pre-shift meetings with a focus on the standards of service, detailed menu descriptions, large parties, and guest experience
- Support service staff by accompanying them to tables while overseeing their quality of service; coach and counsel service staff
- Oversee side work and train as necessary
- Inspect the Floor, including but not limited to staff uniforms, table tops, glassware, flatware, etc. to ensure quality control
- Ensure all health code department standards are being met
- Engage all customers on arrival, during the service and on departure; record guest preferences, update profile and encourage reviews
- Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs
- Contributes to the menu and ensures that front-of-house offerings are of the highest caliber
- Attends, leads and participates in any training sessions, departmental meetings or pre-service meetings
- Learns by listening, observing other team members and sharing knowledge while leading by example
- Presents a positive and professional attitude
- Maintains and promotes updated knowledge of company policies and procedures
- Self-disciplined, shows initiative, possesses leadership ability, and is outgoing
- Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to Somewhere Nowhere’s problems
- Enforces disciplinary actions as needed
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- 2+ years of progressive experience in the hospitality industry, management experience preferred
- A professional and polished approach to leadership with a passion for hospitality
- Excellent communication skill and critical thinking / decision-making skills
- A warm and gracious outlook, the ability to create stellar guest experiences
- Ability to teach and mentor others with a positive attitude
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic with the mentality of a team player
- Open to working day or night shifts, week days, weekends, and holidays
- Prior events experience is a plus
- Nightlife experience is a must
