Floor Care Specialist
Position Summary
Responsible for the daily and periodic cleaning of the designated area according to performance standards set up for the position. The employee is responsible for all work in the assigned work area.
Position Responsibilities
- General cleaning of patient rooms, occupied, vacant, isolation, discharge, bathrooms, ancillary areas, elevators, corridors and stairways
- Damp dust housing items, all furnishings, dust mop, wet mop floors, vacuum
- Empty, clean, reline waste containers and transport trash to pick up site
- Record discharge cleaning, dispenses paper products and soap, dust, spot cleans and washes walls, doors and glass
- Changes sharps container when 3/4 full and disposes of container per hospital policy
- Participates in training of new employees under the direction of the Supervisor or Crew Leader
- Performs special projects as needed
- Extracts carpets in all areas of the hospital as assigned
- Completes hard surface floor care such as strip, seal, re-wax and spray buff
- Safely uses all floor care equipment, and trains new employees in the safe use of the same
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department
- Returns soiled linen and cleaning cloths to soiled linen area
- Controls and properly uses supplies and equipment
- Cleans equipment and properly disposes of soiled cleaning cloths and mops
- Functions in charge position as needed
- Attends unit meetings, in services and other educational programs to maintain competency requirements
- Attend Code of Conduct training course annually
- Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct
- Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH’s commitment to HCA’s Code of Conduct
- Demonstrate an understanding of and satisfaction of the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)
- Adheres to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations Policy
Qualifications
- Above average communication skills in all forms
- Must be able to read, write and understand oral and written instructions
- Experience in environmental services (housekeeping) preferred, but not required
