About the role
The Kansas City VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Nursing Acute Care Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN).
Responsibilities
- Provides competent - evidence-based nursing care across multiple care settings.
- Serves as a patient advocate and resources for staff - patients - and caregivers.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Supports quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice.
- Supervises LPNs and Nursing Assistants as appropriate.
- Rotates across multiple units including Emergency Department - Med-Surg/Telemetry - Inpatient Mental Health DOM-SUD - ICUs.
- Adapts to diverse patient populations across the lifespan.
Requirements
- Basic Requirements: Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing.
- Additional Grade-Level Requirements: As specified in the qualifications section.
Qualifications
- English Language Proficiency: No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- Licensure: Current - full - active - and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State - Territory or Commonwealth of the United States - or the District of Columbia.
- Exception: Candidates who do not possess the required licensure may be appointed at the entry step of the grade and level applicable to the completed nursing education as a Graduate Nurse Technician on a 120-day temporary appointment while actively pursuing licensure.
