About the Role

Cornerstone Family Healthcare is actively recruiting for a Medical Assistant to join our growing team in Middletown, NY. The MA will provide quality patient care in the department within their scope of practice, as directed by the supervising Registered/Practical Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Perform screening procedures and documentation in accordance with Cornerstone policies and procedures.
• Identify potential patient problems, alert the Nurse or Provider.
• Participate in Cornerstone's Care Team Model, including Pre-Visit Planning, care team huddles/communication, and population management activities for assigned patient panel.
• Direct and participate in quality improvement activities within the care team and department.
• Refer phone and walk-in triage to Nurse or Provider.
• Strictly adhere to safe nursing practices, including Infection Control, National Patient Safety Goals and Waived Testing set forth by CORNERSTONE policy and in compliance with Joint Commission and OSHA.
• Assist providers with in-office procedures and exams as needed.
• Perform hearing and vision screenings on children and adults.
• Perform EKG's and all POCT including but not limited to: Rapid HIV, Rapid HEP C, Rapid Influenza, Urine Dip (UA, HCG), Finger-stick (Hemoglobin, Lead, Glucose, HbA1c, PT/INR).
• Float to other departments, as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for the patient.
• Make recommendations to supervisors for the improvement of health care for all patients.
• Be familiar with and adhere to all clinical, administrative, and general policies and procedures as outlined in the CORNERSTONE Policy and Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook.
• Attend and participate in monthly department, All Staff and other required meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of CORNERSTONE including patient confidentiality, financials, and employee relations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Current BLS Certification
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Travel to Pine Bush, Port Jervis

Pay

$19.00-$23.00 per hour
