About the role
The Flight Maintenance Manager oversees the aviation maintenance program, supervises and mentors a team of skilled mechanics, manages inspections and repairs, maintains FAA Part 145 Repair Station compliance, and ensures the aircraft are mission-ready.
Responsibilities
- Supervises other mechanics and manages the aviation maintenance program
- Performs skilled work of complex difficulty involving maintenance of Sheriff's Office aircraft, Flight Unit equipment, and other repair tasks
- Conducts periodic inspections to ensure safety and airworthiness of all aircraft
- Diagnoses and repairs both fixed and rotary wing aircraft
- Manages the repair of structural defects and installation of specialized equipment
- Estimates repair costs and orders parts and supplies
- Schedules and prioritizes work for staff
- Liaises with FAA and maintains the repair station manual
- Maintains records of flight time and complies with Federal Aviation Regulations
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) years of experience maintaining aircraft as a certificated mechanic, including experience in maintaining Airbus AS350 series
- Three (3) years of experience repairing aircraft in a certificated FAA repair station, including one (1) year in the capacity of approving aircraft for return to service
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Valid FAA Aircraft Mechanic License with both Airframe & Powerplant ratings
- Valid Inspection Authorization (IA) certification
- Personal mechanic's tools required in aircraft and airframe maintenance and repair
- Valid Florida driver’s license
Qualifications
- Knowledge of aircraft and airframe maintenance for both fixed and rotary wing aircraft
- Ability to conduct periodic inspections to ensure safety and airworthiness of all aircraft
- Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools to maintain and repair aircraft
