Flight Dynamics Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Develop flight dynamics modeling and simulation tools in Python to be used by internal users and other York software
• Maintain an existing software suite
• Translate designs and requirements into clean, readable code with guidance from senior team members
• Write tests and documentation for internal users
• Validate accuracy of results of simulation and modeling tools
• Work across teams to collaborate on complex problems
• Define and maintain high-fidelity simulation environments to support development of mission architecture and day in the life analysis for a variety of different missions

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, or related technical field from accredited university
• 0-2 years of experience in spacecraft GNC, mission analysis, orbit analysis, flight dynamics systems or similar
• Background in orbital dynamics and spacecraft subsystems
• Experience with industry-standard tools such as STK, GMAT, or equivalent
• Experience analyzing spacecraft dynamics, control theory, and propulsion performance as they relate to trajectory design and constellation geometry
• Experience with Python software development and testing
• Experience with Git version control, or an equivalent version control system
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Collaborative and effective in team environments
