About the role

Velocity Truck Rental & Leasing is seeking an experienced Technician with refrigerated (reefer) trailer experience to join our Service team in Nashville, TN. As a Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering top-notch service to our customers by conducting major and minor repairs while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Your mechanical and electrical expertise will contribute significantly to our team’s success.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair refrigerated trailers and related mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Perform major and minor repairs accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Inspect equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration-related concerns.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for customers by providing professional support and repair-status updates.
  • Complete repairs independently or under supervision, depending on the complexity of the work.
  • Properly manage parts, tools, equipment, and inventory used during repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Comply with all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Adhere closely to written and oral instructions, maintaining accurate documentation and inventory control.
  • Demonstrate autonomy and initiative, capable of working independently when required.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary vocational education preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical inspections and repairs in a related field.
  • Previous experience diagnosing and repairing refrigerated trailers and refrigeration systems required.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and follow technical manuals, service instructions, and repair procedures.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Class B Driver’s License within a specified timeframe.
  • 2+ years of experience in heavy truck repairs or a related field.
  • Familiarity with component rebuilds and replacements, such as engines and transmissions.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to pass post-offer drug screening, physical examination (including a lift test), and background check.

Pay

$28–$30/hour (depending on experience and qualifications).
