About the Role
Fleet Mechanics play a key role in ensuring the reliability of our fleet and supporting the safety of our Drivers. At PBNA, you’ll work with world-class tooling, ergonomics, and technology in a fast-paced environment. The role offers task variety, ongoing training, and a team culture that supports knowledge sharing and growth.
Responsibilities
- Work with a high degree of independence while performing preventative maintenance (PMs) and repairs
- Utilize leading-edge technology and programs, including PM using voice applications, Noregon diagnostics, Uptake predictive analytics, and TAAS
- Work on Pepsi’s diverse fleet equipment, including automobiles, trucks (light and heavy), vans, and forklifts
- Perform advanced diagnostics across all OE platforms (Volvo, International, Freightliner, Maxon, electric vehicles, Material Handling Equipment, and more)
- Perform high-level repairs such as engine and driveline, after-treatment and emissions, and safety systems
- Adapt and build repair and maintenance capability for alternative fuel applications (e.g., electric vehicles, CNG, B100)
- Diagnose failures, disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts as necessary
- Maintain documentation and records, including vehicle records and pre-trip checklists
- Answer service calls and support Pepsi’s strong safety culture by adhering to all safety standards and procedures
- Maintain one of the largest fleets in North America
Requirements
- Must provide your own basic hand tools; diagnostic, ergonomic, and high-tech equipment will be provided
- Physical requirements include lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, and manipulating objects (with or without accommodation)
- At least 18 years of age
- Able to pass a Forklift Driving Skills test (if applicable)
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds (with or without accommodation)
- Experience or training involving hydraulic and air brake systems
- Experience performing after-treatment and emissions repairs (e.g., Class 6–8 diesel)
- Experience performing driveline repairs (e.g., Class 6–8 diesel)
- Experience using diagnostic platforms (e.g., Noregon, Snap-on, Nexiq, Altel)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience removing and replacing mounted wheels to torque specs
- Experience utilizing diagnostic troubleshooting codes
- Experience with parts management and inventory controls
- Experience working under limited supervision
- Experience using shop tools (engine hoists, welding, changing tires, small tools)
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and activities
- Experience working with computers (e.g., iPad, desktop, handheld, or laptop computers for diagnostics)
- Experience repairing forklifts (e.g., propane fuel, electrical, or battery systems, hydraulic systems, pallet jacks)
- Experience working with manufacturing standard manuals (e.g., OEM support tools, electronic modules)
- Experience repairing heavy-duty equipment (e.g., Class 8, 7, 6, and medium-duty trucks, brakes, tires, engines, liftgates, thermo king heater, and refer units)
- Experience or training in gas and/or diesel automotive repair
- Experience performing engine repairs (e.g., Class 6–8 diesel)
- Experience performing safety systems repairs
- Brakes Certification
- ASE Electrical, Heavy Duty, Suspension, or AC Certification (or Macs/Military AC certification)
- Experience driving trucks requiring a Class A or B CDL (e.g., road testing, driving in/out of the repair shop)
- Experience repairing light trucks (e.g., EV trucks, gas-diesel trucks, vans, support vehicles)
- Experience with shift work (on-call, 24/7 availability, 2nd/3rd shift, flexible work weeks)
- Hotwork/Welding Certification or welding experience
