Fleet Mechanic - Carlsbad, NM

About the Role

Mechanics perform a range of duties that vary daily based on assigned jobs, including routine maintenance and specialized repairs. Occasionally, there will be needs outside of Fleet Maintenance in the Materials Management/Yard area that are more roustabout in nature.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose vehicle issues, including investigating malfunction and diagnostic codes using vehicle diagnostic systems, specialized tools, and mechanical expertise.
  • Perform preventative and routine vehicle maintenance, including fluid checks and changes, oil changes, brake inspections and replacements, and other required services.
  • Mount and dismount tires and repair flat tires as needed.
  • Use WaterBridge’s ACE CMMS system to accurately document maintenance activities, update work orders, and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe mechanic bay, including proper care and maintenance of tools and shop equipment.
  • Prioritize and complete work according to direction and priorities established by the Fleet Supervisor.
  • Support Materials Management/Yard operations and perform general roustabout duties when required.
  • Follow all applicable company safety procedures, environmental requirements, regulatory standards, and policies.
  • Maintain a professional and safety-focused approach while working in field and shop environments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • 1–2 years of experience as a mechanic preferred.
  • Basic computer and mobile-device skills, with the ability to create, update, and close work orders using a mobile device.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance and preventative services.
  • Experience inspecting vehicles, identifying mechanical faults, diagnosing problems, and performing necessary repairs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to safely operate, maintain, and work around fleet vehicles and other equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to perform general yard, materials handling, and roustabout duties as operational needs require.
  • Residence in Carlsbad, NM, or within approximately 60 miles of Carlsbad is preferred.

Company-paid housing may be provided during scheduled working shifts, if eligible.

Working Conditions

Operates in a field environment and may be subject to extreme conditions such as heat and cold.

The physical demands of this job include:

  • Standing, walking, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Walking on uneven and vegetated terrain.
  • Using hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms; climbing stairs; balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; talking or hearing.
  • Occasionally lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Carrying a self-contained breathing apparatus if needed.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • 10/4 schedule (10 days on, 4 days off).
  • Day shifts.
  • 10-hour shifts.

Location

West Texas (Northern Delaware Basin) / Carlsbad, NM / Orla, TX.
