About the role
Operates plastic fabrication machines such as cut-off saws, pullers, pneumatic operated bellers, bending equipment, electrical heaters, and water-cooling tanks. Uses various hand tools including tape measures, calipers, go/no-go gauges, and wrenches in the fabrication of rigid PVC products.
Responsibilities
- Work at and promote company safety rules and policies, following accepted safe work practices.
- Safely operate forklift to move properly packaged finished products to an outside pad area.
- Comprehend all training provided.
- Package all sweeps and elbows with supervision.
- Identify different pipe types and pipe conditions.
- Read micrometers, pi tape, and use all inspection gauges.
- Demonstrate a cooperative attitude and work well with others and the supervisor.
- Manage time effectively, showing up on time and adhering to break and lunch periods.
- Attend required training sessions and wear mandated safety equipment (e.g., hearing protection, safety glasses).
- Learn new tasks and take on individual responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience with computers and basic keyboarding skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Proficiency in basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle variables in changing situations.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and ladders.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Regularly works near moving mechanical and pneumatic equipment.
- Works in and around water for the entire shift.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme cold, heat, and airborne particles.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
