Fitter Welder

About the Role
Performs a variety of metal fabrication and assembles structural metal products, such as framework for machinery, tanks, stacks, and metal parts for buildings and bridges according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints. Develops layout and plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of trigonometry, stock allowances for thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and physical properties of metal.
Responsibilities
- Lay out, fit, tack weld, pressure tight, test and repair to blueprint specifications all piping systems, fuel tanks, or any other pressurized vessel (excluding hydraulic cylinders).
- Lay out, fit, assemble, tack weld, and straighten fabrications to blueprint specifications using jigs, fixtures, and/or instructions.
- Verify conformance of work piece to specifications using square, ruler, and measuring tape.
Requirements
- Basic Qualifications:
- 2–3 years of trade training and high school education.
- A minimum of three to five years of practical experience.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Ability to set up and utilize inspection equipment.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Expert knowledge of weld symbols and weld positions used in production.
- Ability to read and understand detailed drawings and welding procedures/specifications.
- Experience using standard measuring tools and understanding of print tolerances.
- Basic computer knowledge (Access and Excel).
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, and communicate with others.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. Requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods. Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
Schedule
Work schedule and shift assignment may vary based on operational needs. Overtime, weekend, and holiday work may be required as business demands dictate.
