Description of Work

This position focuses on assisting with budgeting tasks that support important programs serving individuals with intellectual disabilities. It develops your skills in financial review, analysis, and monitoring within a government budget setting.

Responsibilities

  • Budget Preparation: Assist in preparing budget and rebudget requests that support program goals and funding needs
  • Data Analysis: Review personnel, operational, census, and expenditure data to identify trends and track progress
  • Fiscal Monitoring: Analyze fiscal activity to ensure compliance with approved budgets and financial guidelines
  • Revenue Review: Monitor revenue projections and compare collections to expected totals to identify variances
  • Documentation Support: Develop supporting materials and responses for budget inquiries and legislative requests
  • Program Assistance: Collaborate with staff and help resolve fiscal issues related to assigned programs

Schedule

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report to the office two days per week, as determined by the Division Director and Bureau Director. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Financial Programs Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in paraprofessional fiscal administration work, and a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
