About the Role

This role involves efficient picking, packing, handling, and timely movement of product within a warehouse environment. The primary goal is to move product safely while maximizing productivity. Detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) exist for tasks including breakdown, e-commerce full service and indirect operations, happy beauty, key-in, loading, packing, picking, returns, stores, cleaning, and batching.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor workflow and adjust to changes by directing and guiding others in the assigned department.
  • Keep supervisors updated on department progress and any challenges that arise.
  • Ensure daily workloads are completed.
  • Act as an individual contributor, handling complex tasks requiring considerable judgment, independent analysis, and decision-making.
  • Assist in training or retraining new or current employees.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor that reflects safety, productivity, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior distribution/warehouse experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes and interruptions.
  • Capability to work with limited supervision.
  • Five years of directly related experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of all processes and policies related to assigned department duties.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse management software and equipment used in the department.
  • If required, ability to become certified in Sally Beauty’s Lift Truck Training Program to safely operate a forklift.
  • Ability to maintain neat and accurate records.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic and ability to read and interpret orders, product descriptions, and numbers in English.
  • Adherence to all procedures and policies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of personalities.
  • Safe operation of all lift equipment to protect personnel and company property.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Work environment involves typical warehouse risks, requiring heightened safety precautions such as safe operation of light to heavy equipment, forklifts, and pallet jacks, as well as adherence to fire regulations.
  • Exposure to occasional fumes, odors, and temperature fluctuations (25°F to 105°F).
  • Physical exertion required for tasks including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, cycle counting, order checking, and shipping.
  • Repetitive lifting of cartons weighing 10 to 55 pounds.
  • Standing or walking for 6 to 12 hours per day.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders as part of daily duties.
