First-Party Property Associate Attorney

About the role

Trueline's client, a well-established national litigation firm with a strong reputation in insurance and complex commercial litigation, is seeking a Senior Associate to join its growing team in Austin, Texas. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a sophisticated litigation docket while working alongside experienced trial attorneys in a collaborative environment that values professional growth, mentorship, and long-term career advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a first-party insurance litigation caseload from intake through resolution
  • Lead litigation strategy and day-to-day case management with meaningful autonomy
  • Defend first-party bad faith and insurance coverage matters involving commercial property, business interruption, residential property, UM/UIM, Stowers, and related disputes
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and client reports
  • Conduct depositions, attend hearings, participate in mediations, and prepare matters for trial when necessary
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex legal strategy while serving as the primary attorney on assigned matters
  • Build trusted relationships with sophisticated insurance carrier clients through proactive communication and strong legal counsel

Requirements

  • Active Texas law license
  • 5+ years of first-party insurance litigation experience
  • Strong experience handling insurance coverage and bad faith disputes
  • Excellent legal writing, research, advocacy, and case management skills
  • Experience taking and defending depositions, attending hearings, and negotiating settlements
  • Ability to independently manage multiple active matters while meeting deadlines
  • Collaborative mindset with strong client service skills

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with commercial property and business income claims
  • Familiarity with residential property litigation
  • Experience handling UM/UIM and Stowers matters
  • Prior experience representing national insurance carriers
  • Trial experience or significant courtroom exposure
