About the role

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking First-Line Air Proprietary 2 Systems Engineering Managers to join the team in Berkeley, MO. This Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) First Line Manager will lead a highly motivated team in a dynamic environment, pioneering Boeing’s future through innovation and industry-leading approaches such as Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). The role involves leading integrated solutions across engineering teams and throughout the system lifecycle while ensuring design effectiveness and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Systems Engineering and Specialty Engineering activities utilizing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and approaches.
  • Lead program integration and verification activities, coordinating amongst IPTs and stakeholders to ensure system integration and performance.
  • Empower employees performing cutting-edge engineering and technical activities in Systems Engineering, Specialty Engineering, system verification, and product development.
  • Develop and execute new & novel project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goals.
  • Acquire resources for projects, provide technical management, and lead program and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Coordinate and lead via influence across the Air Dominance division with other division leaders.
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Manage, coach, develop, and motivate employees; acquire resources for the team.
  • Drive collaboration strategies across multiple teams and implement strategy across a large program.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time, domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs. This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).

Requirements

  • Technical Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree (defined as any four-year degree or greater in a mathematic, scientific, or information technology field of study).
  • 5+ years of experience in the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Experience leading Systems Engineering, Specialty Engineering, or Integration and Test activities.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • At least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large-scale cross-functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR completion of the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams.
  • 5+ years of full-time defense industry experience within Systems or Project Engineering.
  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) for a medium to large project ($500,000 or greater).
  • Experience leading Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities.

Successful candidates must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process. This position is contingent upon program award.

Pay

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range: $141,100 – $190,900.

Schedule

This position is for 1st shift. Relocation assistance is available based on candidate eligibility.
