Firefighter (Paramedic).

About the role

This position involves firefighting duties, emergency fuel and engine system shut down procedures on aircraft, and various other responsibilities related to fire suppression and rescue operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform firefighting duties involving burning structures, equipment, facilities, crashes, and aircraft.
• Use firefighting chemicals to extinguish fires in buildings, vehicles, and aircraft.
• Assure site protection during and after firefighting operations for fire investigation and assist in determining origin and cause of fire.
• Drive and operate firefighting apparatus of significant complexity, including pumpers, aerial ladder trucks, and crash rescue trucks.
• Conduct a complete examination of patients to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of their condition and search for alert symbols.
• Make a preliminary assessment of patients' conditions and select from a variety of prescribed protocols the one that is in the best interest of the patient.

Requirements

• Completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examinations in accordance with DoDM 6055.06.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination.
• Position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
• Requires a valid state Driver's License and Emergency Vehicle Operator’s certification.
• Shift work is required, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience as outlined in the qualifications section.
• Must possess and continue to maintain the following certifications:
• Firefighter I and II
• HAZMAT Technician
• Airport Firefighter
• Pumper Driver Operator
• Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Driver Operator
