About the role
This exciting opportunity is open to both internal and external candidates. The District is actively recruiting paramedic-certified applicants who will attend and complete a comprehensive Fire Academy.
Responsibilities
- Respond to medical incidents and provide Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and medical transportation services to patients.
- Use mobile computers, electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) software, and mobile radios.
- Interact with patients and perform physical examinations.
- Communicate examination findings to hospitals.
- Set up, operate/administer, and monitor medical equipment, including cardiac monitors, intravenous solutions (IVs), ventilators, and defibrillators.
- Perform medication administration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), endotracheal intubation, and other advanced airway procedures.
- Apply splints, backboards, cervical collars, and other stabilizing measures.
- Complete patient care reporting and transportation documentation.
- Inventory, request, and stock drugs and EMS supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Possess a valid, unrestricted Colorado Driver’s License.
- Be able to maintain a Paramedic certificate issued by the State of Colorado.
- Possess and maintain CPR certification.
- Valid CPAT certification.
- Obtain and maintain all required certifications.
- Establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the general public and co-workers, communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Operate and maintain all equipment, apparatus, and vehicles assigned.
- Keep accurate records and reports as appropriate for the position.
- Successfully adapt to the Fire Academy environment and consistently demonstrate the ability to meet the physical demands of the profession.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid, unrestricted Colorado Driver’s License.
- State of Colorado Fire Fighter I certification, or higher.
- State of Colorado Hazardous Materials Operations Certification, or higher.
- CPR certification.
- CPAT certification.

Pay
Starting Salary (2026): $91,183 annually, DOQ
Salary Range: $91,183 – $128,118 Annually
Schedule
Start Date: January 1, 2027
Fire Academy Start Date: January 25, 2027
Operational Schedule (Post-Academy): 56-hour rotating schedule, including 48 to 72 continuous hours
