Fire Technology Coordinator

About the Role

The faculty member will be responsible for coordinating instructional programs, teaching assigned classes, and supporting student success under the supervision of the area dean. This role involves assessing student learning outcomes, maintaining expertise in the teaching field, and participating in professional development. The faculty member will also contribute to curriculum development, serve on college committees, and engage in faculty governance activities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate instructional programs and teach assigned classes.
• Assist students in mastering course content and fulfilling their potential.
• Assess student learning outcomes and maintain program documentation.
• Stay current in the subject area and effective teaching techniques.
• Participate in curriculum development, review, and improvement.
• Serve on college committees and engage in faculty governance.
• Support accreditation efforts and student co-curricular activities.
• Collaborate with public service entities and other college programs on academic and career pathways.
• Represent the Fire Technology program at campus and off-campus events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the area dean.

Coordinator Duties

• Assist the Dean/Associate Dean in developing, evaluating, and implementing Fire Technology and Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center (SRPSTC) training programs.
• Adhere to standards set by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and California State Fire Training.
• Plan, organize, and schedule programs and courses, including certification and student testing procedures.
• Maintain program documentation and prepare Career and Technical Education (CTE) reports.
• Administer program budgets, equipment, and supplies, forecasting needs and setting goals.
• Prepare Perkins and Strong Workforce reporting.
• Facilitate SRPSTC Accredited Regional Training Program (ARTP) certifications.
• Support instructional quality, program continuity, and compliance with state regulations.
• Develop and participate in the Fire Technology Advisory Committee to ensure curriculum meets industry and community needs.
• Participate in hiring committees and onboard new Fire Technology faculty.
• Serve as a resource for Fire Technology faculty and participate in peer reviews.
• Coordinate with other Fire Technology faculty on class schedules, student learning outcomes, and program assessment.
• Utilize technology for teaching, communication, and program management.
• Represent the Fire Technology program at various events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience, OR
• Associate degree and six years of professional experience, OR
• Equivalent*. All degrees must be from an accredited institution, completed by January 1, 2027.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with a California recognized fire agency.
• Possession of California Fire Fighter 1 and Fire Fighter 2 certifications.
