Fire Protection Engineer II
About the role
Parsons is hiring a Fire Protection Engineer II to support our expanding portfolio of federal projects. This role focuses on cost-effective production of civil design deliverables, including drawings, calculations, and specifications that comply with applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements. You will work on a broad mix of US government projects across multiple departments and agencies, collaborating with design managers, architects, engineers, project managers, and construction managers.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently and accurately complete fire protection engineering assignments, including preparation of 3D models and drawings in Autodesk Revit, specifications via SpecsIntact, calculations, and other design deliverables for procurement and construction.
- Extract engineering information from CAD drawings and 3D building models.
- Prepare engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
- Interface with other engineering disciplines to ensure coordinated design products and collaborate with other departments to support procurement and construction activities.
- Prepare detailed requisitions for construction services, equipment, and materials.
- Respond to Requests for Information and work directly with construction teams to resolve issues or revise design products during construction.
- Provide technical guidance to CAD Drafters and 3D Model Designers working on the same project.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with typically 5+ years of related work experience.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and other PC software packages typically associated with fire protection engineering.
- Proficiency in preparing fire sprinkler system designs (including fire pump systems) in AutoSPRINK and AutoSPRINK RVT.
- Proficiency in preparing fire alarm and detection system designs.
- Proficiency in preparing smoke control designs, calculations, and rational analyses.
- Experience in fire protection & life safety code consulting and design for facilities.
- Experience in fire suppression, fire detection and alarm systems, and life safety on US Government projects.
Desired Skills
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of current technology and ability to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on projects.

Pay
Salary Range: $74,800.00 - $130,900.00
Hiring for this requisition is contingent upon Parsons successfully winning a pending contract award. This position is part of our Federal Solutions team, which delivers resources to US government customers in defense, security, intelligence, infrastructure, and environmental sectors.
