Fire & Life Safety Team Lead

About the role

The Building Engineering Services Group (BES) at HDR provides industry-leading mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, structural, and specialty design services for a variety of buildings. This position is located at HDR's global headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.

Responsibilities

• Assist the FLS Business Class Lead with managing and fostering the business class culture by supervising a team of fire protection engineers, EITs, ICC, NFPA, or NICET certified designers.
• Collaborate with fellow FLS Team Leads and the FLS Business Class Lead for staffing, forecasting, and project proposals.
• Lead and mentor the team towards technical excellence, quality, and staff development.
• Manage and lead key projects as design lead or engineering project manager.
• Implement, monitor, and support company policies.
• Collaborate with other team leads, business class leads, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.
• Participate in work-sharing and FLS practice development with a national network of HDR FLS Business Class.
• Recruit and grow the business class under the guidance of the FLS Business Class Lead.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
• Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on the role.
• Experience in developing and managing diverse teams.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Good leadership and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
• Possession of preferred qualifications includes engineering PE registration, experience in development and management of diverse teams, and preference for local candidates.
