Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform bid layouts.
- Complete material takeoffs.
- Obtain vendor pricing.
- Write quotes.
- Perform basic calculations and code research.
- Aid other estimators as needed.
- Read, learn, interpret, and apply code requirements.
- Work with sales, operations, and design staff.
- Interpret project specifications.
- Produce timely and accurate estimates.
- Generate status reports.
- Participate in planning meetings.
- Enter data into operating systems.
- Update Compass regularly.
- Model layouts and perform material take-offs.
- Execute basic mathematical functions.
- Communicate verbally and in writing.
- Operate independently with strong judgment.
- Manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with teams and work alone.
- Use Microsoft Office applications.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Comply with the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Safety Policy.
Education/Qualification
- 2+ years of experience estimating or designing fire extinguisher and suppression systems.
- Experience with fire extinguisher and suppression proposals for remodels and new construction.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to job sites.
- Familiarity with NFPA Code.
- Strong math skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter with ability to use independent judgement.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Great attention to detail.
- Experience working against deadlines.
- Excellent track record of completing projects on time.
- Proven dedication to safety compliance and safe work practices.
- NICET certifications in Fire Alarm & Special Hazard Suppression Systems or a related field preferred.
- Experience with low voltage systems, alternative suppression systems, and electrical experience preferred.
- Experience with specific manufacturer systems preferred.
- Licenses for relevant areas of expertise preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or business administration preferred.
- CFPS certification (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) is a plus.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Sit at a desk/computer station for long periods.
- Use a mouse and keyboard for extended periods.
- Occasional walking and maneuvering around construction sites.
- Occasional climbing ladders.
- Occasional exposure to hot, cold, and inclement weather.
- Occasional wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Minimal lifting, pushing, or pulling required.
- Occasional working long hours and weekends.
