About the role
The Los Angeles County Fire Department seeks qualified individuals to join its team. The department operates 24/7, providing emergency services to over 10 million residents.
Responsibilities
- Receives and responds to requests for emergency services from the public.
- Interviews callers to obtain preliminary reports and dispatch appropriate assistance.
- Operates keyboard-controlled telephone equipment for dispatching and communicating with various agencies.
- Maintains dispatching resource material and updates records of emergency calls.
- Performs administrative and clerical duties as part of a paramilitary environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid California Class C Driver License or alternative transportation capability.
- Ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
- Physical Class II - Light physical effort.
