About the Role

S.A. Comunale is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and program various types of alarm systems. The goal is to grow the revenues of the Alarm & Detection department while maintaining profits, satisfying customer requirements, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position works closely with Project Managers and the NE OH Service Manager and requires travel to customer sites, with occasional overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Train Alarm Technician Trainees as needed.
• Work on low voltage systems.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and program Fire Alarm, Access Control, Nurse Call, Intrusion, Sound, CCTV, and IP Video Systems.
• Complete all required paperwork, such as Work Tickets and Inspection/Deficiency Reports, accurately for service calls and inspections.
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
• Deliver detailed oral and written feedback to management regarding customer issues.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with team members and customers.
• Participate in department on-call rotation and work flexible hours as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience in the Fire Alarm or Security industry required.
• Vocational or industry trade school is a plus.
• Strong technical skills and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Familiarity with computers and business applications (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
• Ohio Fire Alarm License required; NICET I fire alarm certification is a plus.
• Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to think strategically, make sound decisions, and produce accurate results.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow up on tasks and work with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit, stand, see, talk, hear, and use hands to handle tools or controls.
• Frequently required to walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must have close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception with the ability to adjust focus.
• Classified as very hard work: exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 20-50 pounds frequently, and/or over 20 pounds constantly.
• Exposure to wide-ranging environmental conditions, including inside/outside work, extreme temperatures, fumes, odors, toxic conditions, dust, poor ventilation, hazards, humidity, loud noises, vibrations, and wet conditions.
• Frequent use of protective equipment for arms, eyes, feet, head, hearing, full body, legs, respirator, and skin.
• Operation of computers, hand tools (manual and power), telephones, calculators, shop machinery, and lab equipment.
• Requires commuting to customer and company locations by land and air.

Skills

• Understanding of simple math, technical drawings, reports, and instructions.
• Ability to write technical reports and simple memos.
