Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm / Security Systems Technician to install, program, troubleshoot, maintain, and service fire alarm, security, access control, and video surveillance systems for commercial and industrial customers.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Install, service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial fire alarm, intrusion alarm, access control, video surveillance (CCTV), and related low-voltage systems.
- Program, configure, and commission fire and security systems according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
- Diagnose system issues and perform timely repairs to minimize customer downtime.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding system operation, maintenance needs, and service recommendations.
- Cook up with project managers, field supervisors, and other technicians to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within scope.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required; technical or vocational training is preferred.
- Experience installing and servicing commercial fire alarm and/or electronic security systems is required.
- A working knowledge of fire alarm, access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and low-voltage systems is necessary.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities are required.
- The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities is important.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
- The ability to pass required background screenings where applicable is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Fire Alarm Certification (Level I-IV) is preferred.
- Manufacturer certifications such as LenelS2, Genetec, Software House (CCURE), Avigilon, Axis, Bosch, Honeywell, Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, or similar are preferred.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, National Electrical Code (NEC), and applicable local codes is preferred.
- Experience with IP networking fundamentals related to security and life safety systems is preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Climb ladders, work on lifts, and perform overhead work.
- Bend, kneel, crawl, and work in confined spaces.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to distinguish wire colors and perform precise wiring tasks.
- Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Operate company vehicles safely.
