Location: Marshfield, Missouri, United States | Full-time | 2nd shift – 3:15 pm to 1:45 am

About the role

We are seeking a wood finisher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the desire to prepare and finish wood surfaces to meet high-quality standards. Responsibilities include sanding, staining, sealing, and topcoating wood products. Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and finish wood surfaces, including sanding, staining, sealing, and topcoating to meet high-quality standards.
  • Ensure safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment for all associates.
  • Produce materials for customer orders, inventory, product samples, and product development prototypes.
  • Communicate with the team to ensure safety, quality, and delivery expectations are met.
  • Perform machine start-up, shut-down, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all paperwork related to the spray line.
  • Communicate key information to Production Supervisor, 1st shift Team Lead, and 2nd shift Team Lead in a timely manner.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of work.

Requirements

  • Dependable, punctual, and good attendance record.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow Standard Work Sheets, Manufacturing Drawings, Routers, and Travelers.
  • Ability to start up, shut down, and make machine adjustments via a computer touch-screen.
  • Ability to distinguish between different color shades and utilize measuring devices to determine sheen and mil coating thicknesses.
  • Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Some knowledge of wood products and finishing preferred.
  • 1-3 years of past manufacturing experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • OSHA 10-hour training preferred.

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Plant environment with occasional hot/cold temperatures, uneven walking surfaces, cords, tools, and other obstacles.
  • Intermittent loud noises and dusty or dirty conditions.
  • Required PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other department-specific PPE.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
