Mactac's Spartanburg, South Carolina facility is seeking a Supervisor to oversee operations in coating and finishing on the second shift.

About the Role

This position is responsible for fostering a safe work environment by demonstrating integrity, trust, and ethical conduct. The Supervisor will manage daily operations in coating and finishing, including all value-added activities and supporting departments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees adhere to work rules and safety policies, applying OSHA and Mactac safety guidelines.
  • Conduct incident investigations and maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Establish a strong floor presence to set, communicate, and evaluate expectations, standards, and results.
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with company policies, including training, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and timecard accuracy.
  • Lead, coach, and direct Operators, Teams, and Support functions to safely produce quality products efficiently.
  • Ensure proper staffing across all departments, including managing time off and schedules.
  • Review production schedules to maximize effectiveness and customer service.
  • Focus on employee development through training sessions (safety, SOPs, housekeeping) and coaching troubleshooting processes.
  • Report daily shift performance against KPIs for safety, quality, productivity, service, and facility issues.
  • Oversee department projects for successful implementation and overall effectiveness.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels of general plant supplies.
  • Monitor and analyze fill rate efficiencies, initiating corrections as needed.
  • Serve as a technical resource for goal formulation, performance feedback, SOP implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate company messages, address employee questions and concerns, and support Federal & State employment laws.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee issues, consulting with Human Resources as needed.
  • Use the payroll processing system to ensure punch accuracy and address time and attendance questions.
  • Travel as required (approximately 5% of the time).
  • Perform other assigned duties and maintain regular attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred in Engineering, Chemical, Biology, Business, or related field, or 10+ years of manufacturing supervision experience.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of professional experience with supervisory responsibility.
  • Experience with web handling, coating equipment, pressure-sensitive adhesives, labeling, or paper industries highly preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office experience required.
  • ERP experience required.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Not eligible for relocation assistance.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Required to stand, walk, and sit, with limited office time.
  • Potential exposure to heights.
  • Mandatory use of hearing, eye, and foot protection in manufacturing areas.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds.
