About the role

The opportunity is to serve as a lead of a tax operations team focusing on US and global tax information reporting and withholding matters. The role involves working in a group environment on challenging tax information reporting and withholding engagements across various financial service sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the tax operations team, handling escalations related to data preparation, aggregation, report preparation, submission, filings, and other reporting activities.
  • Manage operations team by directing and coordinating day-to-day interactions with clients, reviewing key performance indicators by work stream, driving delivery of services to meet deadlines and client expectations, developing internal team members, and managing engagement economics.
  • Oversee operations team and provide visibility to leadership on status, issues, or situations needing attention. Ensure consistent and standardized processes and procedures are implemented and in place for all tax operations and coordinate training as needed.
  • Support client internal audits and external audits as needed to provide supporting documentation of current processes. Evidence performance and introduce efficiencies via production of the appropriate KRI's and KPI's for Management.
  • Take responsibility for Service Quality, and manage opportunity and engagement risk for engagements. Understand the business financials ensuring work is accomplished on budget through review of team's out-of-scope efforts and client billable hours.
  • Leverage standard technologies and processes while driving efficiency and quality of deliverables. Act as a counsellor and coach, and develop a team of tax professionals and actively participate in their performance management.
  • Travel 20% or less.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Tax, Law, or Economics.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of operational delivery experience.
  • CPA, EA, or licensed attorney.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong data analysis capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, handle and track multiple assignments.
  • Strong operations skills, tax technical skills not required.
  • Experience managing a production line team.

  • Excellent trouble shooting, execution and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Proficient using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Proficiency in tax accounting systems.

Pay

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $103,100 to $188,900. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $123,800 to $214,900. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.

Schedule

Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Employees are granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support their physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
