About the Role

The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands (FFSL) is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and communication-driven professional to join our financial team. As a Financial Manager I, you will play a critical role in maintaining the fiscal health of our agency. This position offers a rewarding opportunity for an independent, forward-thinking individual to manage complex financial transactions, ensure policy compliance, and provide key budget insights that support our mission to manage and protect Utah's forest, range, and sovereign lands.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, summarize, and review data; report findings, interpret results, and make recommendations.
  • Develop or modify rules, policies, or standards.
  • Interpret, clarify, explain, and apply agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal or state laws, and regulations.
  • Review fiscal operations to ensure integrity, accuracy, and control of data.
  • Manage special fiscal projects or activities of a highly specialized nature.
  • Assist in the preparation, coordination, and review of responses to internal and external parties.
  • Perform complex reviews of financial transactions and programs to ensure compliance with state and federal policies.
  • Generate, analyze, and present fiscal budget forecasts.

Requirements

  • Ability to ensure compliance with contract terms, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to use logic to analyze and identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions.
  • Skill and ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of principles, theories, and practices of accounting.
  • Knowledge of federal grant management and reporting.
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and documentation.
  • Ability to provide consultation and/or expert advice.
  • Skill and ability to plan, organize, and prioritize time and workload to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate and work closely with various business, IT, and management teams.
  • Detail-oriented and meticulous in work.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field.

Preference may be given to applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or another related subject.

Pay

$30.18 - $49.77 per hour.

Work Environment

  • Typical office setting with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation.
  • Work primarily performed while sitting, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving.
  • No special physical demands required.
