Financial Counselor - Full Time

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient insurance daily.
• Updates patient account with changes.
• Communicates with internal staff on insurance changes promptly.
• Keeps the hospital informed of high medical responsibilities and changes in insurance.
• Updates and delivers morning census reports.
• Affords assistance to patients with eligibility for government programs.

About the role

Pembroke Hospital is a 120-bed acute care, inpatient behavioral health facility located south of Boston, in Pembroke, MA. Situated on 26 acres, we offer inpatient and partial hospitalization treatment to teens, adults and older adults, and our services are designed to assess, stabilize, and treat patients by addressing their primary symptoms and problems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in business, finance, healthcare administration or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Insurance Verification, Inpatient or Outpatient facility; Preference given to Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital.
• Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, Professional and caring demeanor, Excellent phone and customer services skills, Good organizational skills, Basic to moderate knowledge of Insurance procedures and terminology, Basic knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnosis and treatment, Basic to moderate knowledge of Billing procedures and terminology, Ability to problem-solve and exercise sound time management.
