Financial Counselor - Day Shift

Full-time, day shift position (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday) with rotating weekends and holidays as needed by the department.

Responsibilities

• Insurance verification and eligibility: Reviewing insurance plans to determine patient eligibility and coverage for upcoming treatments.
• Assessment of patient financial requirements and counseling patients on insurance benefits and co-payments.
• Financial assistance applications: Assisting patients in completing financial aid applications and necessary paperwork to qualify for assistance programs.
• Payment plan creation: Setting up customized payment plans for patients with high out-of-pocket costs.
• Prior authorization management: Obtaining necessary prior authorizations from insurance companies for specific procedures.
• Debt collection follow-up: Contacting patients with outstanding balances to discuss payment options and manage collections process.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 2-4 years of related experience in insurance verification and medical office/hospital customer service.
• National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
