About the role
The Financial Aid Professional I works under the general supervision of the call center supervisor and is responsible for assisting in counseling students and parents over the phone. This position provides answers to callers by being familiar with federal, state, and university policies and regulations and by looking up student data in the integrated student information system. The role includes presenting financial aid procedures at on-campus orientation sessions and assisting in default management efforts. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is essential, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial working relationships.
Responsibilities
- Assist students and parents over the phone regarding financial aid questions.
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and university financial aid policies and regulations.
- Look up and verify student data in the integrated student information system.
- Present financial aid procedures at on-campus orientation sessions.
- Assist in default management efforts under supervisor guidance.
Requirements
- Associate's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field (preferred).
- Experience working in a professional office setting on a college or university campus (preferred).
- Customer service experience in a professional office setting (preferred).
Skills
- Knowledge of higher education academic and social programs, campus and community resources, and state/federal/campus rules and regulations.
- Working knowledge of phone etiquette, word processing, email, spreadsheets, and database management programs.
- Ability to evaluate information and formulate recommendations.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
