About the role
As a Financial Aid Counselor, you'll play an essential role in helping students and families navigate one of the most important aspects of the college experience - making a Notre Dame education possible. As one of the first people students and families connect with, you'll provide knowledgeable guidance, compassionate support, and exceptional service throughout their financial aid journey.
Responsibilities
- Counsel students and families on educational costs, financial aid programs, and University policies while serving as a trusted resource for questions and problem-solving.
- Manage key aspects of the financial aid process, from reviewing eligibility and verifying documentation to packaging aid and ensuring accurate, timely disbursement of funds.
- Contribute to the success of the Office of Financial Aid through a variety of operational and technical responsibilities.
- Collaborate with campus partners.
- Support specialized program areas such as student employment, athletics, and loan processing.
- Maintain critical documentation and procedures.
- Leverage systems like OnBase and Slate CRM to enhance efficiency and improve the student experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a role that required similar competencies, including customer service, problem-solving, communication, and relationship management.
- Excellent customer service skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate and work with diverse populations.
- Commitment to excellent service.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and raise issues when necessary.
