Counseling
- Evaluate financial aid applications
- Determine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid programs
- Provide counseling on available options
- Serve as a key resource in promoting financial literacy
- Help students make informed financial decisions
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and package financial aid packages
- Award financial aid in accordance with established policies and guidelines
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries via phone, email, and in person
- Collaborate with other departments to support student enrollment and retention
- Understand and communicate Bursar Office processes
- Conduct financial aid presentations in person, virtually, and via chat room platform
- Review and resolve C-Flag issues from FSA
- Maintain responsibility for a specific program area such as scholarships, state aid, verification, loans, athletics, etc.
- Process Cost of Attendance adjustments requests for students
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in higher education desired
- Experience in Admissions or Financial Aid desired
- Experience with Ellucian Colleague desired
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
- Accuracy and attention to detail is essential
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and standard methods of digital communication, such as web/text/chat platforms
- Proficiency utilizing/administering social media platforms
- Show tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, parents, university officials and the public
- Exercise good judgment in complex and new situations
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines
- Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment
- Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours
